Hurt You by Abby McCarthy

Synopsis:
All Antonio did was hurt her.
All he did was give her hell.
He took away everything good in her world.
Everything that ever mattered.
Jenny is used to putting on a brave facade, letting the outside world see her as wild and free. She is loyal and loves with her whole heart, loving others so much that she is willing to sacrifice herself in the process.
Jules was only supposed to be a diversion for Jenny. Fun times with no strings attached. She didn't intend to fall for Jules, a member of The Devil’s Crusader’s Motorcycle Club. But fall for him is exactly what she did.
Antonio has been wreaking havoc on her life since Jenny was sixteen years old. Now she is forced to marry Antonio to keep her loved ones safe, destroying the man she loves in the process and driving him away.
Riding back into town after years away, Jules discovers the woman he once loved no longer exists, and it’s up to him to see if he can bring her back.
NOTE TO READER: This book contains strong sexual scenes and violence against women. Jenny curses so if you can't stand the "f" bomb then avoid this one. This is book 3, however, each book in the series can be read as a stand alone.

“I hate you,” I said wiping a tear from my eye.
“And I you,” he said coldly.
“Then why?”
“That’s not your concern. The only thing you should know is that tonight you will stay at my place where I can keep an eye on you and make sure no one sees your face. When I tell you, we will announce our engagement.”
“My family will know that I don't love you. They'll be able to read me. I'm a shitty liar,” I tell him.
“Then, I suggest you work on your poker face.”
I didn’t say anything back to him. What could I say? I didn't believe that I was in any position to argue. He made it clear. I was going to marry him and he would spare Jules his life. There were too many lives at stake for me to put my love life first. I wanted too, but I loved my family.
We pulled onto a familiar street in Little Italy. Because of the mountainous Pennsylvanian landscape, many of the homes were built to accommodate the land. We pulled up to Antonio’s house and he clicked his garage opener. His garage was actually what would be the first level of his home and then once inside the garage you took a set of stairs to get into the home, which sat on top of the garage.
I followed him and found myself standing inside a beautiful, but drab modern kitchen. Everything was new and stainless steel, even his countertops which screamed industrial. I could see how a man would like this, however, to me, it lacked any character. It felt sterile and yet, exactly what I would expect from Antonio.
“There’s the bathroom. Clean yourself up,” he said motioning towards a closed door. “I’ll be in my den.”
I splashed water on my face, then sat down on the closed toilet seat. How could I have let things come to this? Would everyone be better off if I was dead? They would be a lot safer. No, I knew that wasn't the answer, but I felt desperate and hopeless. I needed to shut down the Jenny who lived her life carelessly. I would do what Antonio wanted. I would marry him and be his wife. I would hate it, but I would no longer put anyone I loved in jeopardy. I would be stronger and endure what I needed too.
I stood up and looked in the mirror one last time before exiting the bathroom. I placed my fingertips against the glass and touched my reflection where my face was still pink from his slap. “Goodbye,” I whispered to myself, and then left the woman I was for twenty-five years behind.

I just finished reading this today. It is a very good book. It had me on the edge of my seat. I said many times while reading this " why the hell is she doing that? Just freaking tell him the truth" I yelled a lot a the book but I also cried during some parts. When Jenny was hurt or just crying, I felt like I was there with her.
I love the way Abby writes. It's a way that I've tried to write myself. I realized a while ago that the only writing I would be doing is blogging, which I'm ok with. Now that I'm finished with this book I can go read Abby's other two books.

Michelle Congdon's Sweetly Broken

Synopsis:

Betrayed.

By the one person I trusted.
By the man who raised me as his own.
Who trained me to be the ruthless killer I am today.
Well, it’s time for payback.
I may not remember my past, but I’m going to show Ryuu, and all those responsible, what happens when you double-cross Emery Kane.

Blood will be spilled. Bones will be broken. Their bodies will fall.

My father created a monster. Perhaps, he should have learned to control me.

TEASER:

PROLOGUE

It’s said that snakes don’t strike unless provoked or they’re on a hunt. Right now, I’m both. I’m on a revenge mission to hunt down every single person who has lied and kept the truth of my past from me, thus provoking me. Is it extreme? Perhaps. But when the man who calls me his daughter sets me up and then proceeds to send hit men to kill me, my act seems plausible. One by one they will die, slowly and painfully. I want to be able to smell their fear and see the terror in their faces as I pull the trigger and put a bullet between their eyes.

A Little Bit in Love by N.D. Jackson

Synopsis:
After losing her birth parents and her adopted parents Alexis Mabry is used to being alone. So after a year of horrible dates with everyone from sugar baby wannabes to cross dressers, she decides to stop dating altogether and focus on what matters most: her business and her friends in Mustang Prairie.

When she meets a handsome stranger on a trip to California she starts to wonder if its time to get back in the game.

Baxter Thompsen spent the last decade building his empire to the exclusion of everything but sex. Now tired of the socialites and starlets, he wants someone real. When he does she only wants a vacation fling and it's up to Baxter to show her that lust is great, but love is the real prize.

Is it lust or are Baxter and Alex more than a little bit in love?

This is book 2 in the Mustang Prairie series. Each book can be read as a stand alone but you'll see many of the same characters throughout each story and meet new residents from one book to the next!

I finished reading this today. It took me a while to read it. The story was great and I loved the characters but I think before it's published it needs to be proofread/ edited again. All the mistakes and missing parts of the story made it kinda hard to read. I don't know if I should actually put this in my review but I was asked to give an honest review. It usually takes me about 2-3 days to read a book but this book took me almost a month to read. I kept stopping and procrastinating about picking it up again. I gave this book 3.5 stars. I did that because I loved the story and characters and I would have rated it higher but I just couldn't. I couldn't get past the errors. I don't mean to be harsh but I don't want to sugar coat anything and I'm trying to be truthful. I would read it again but after the errors are fixed.

About the author:
Hey I'm Natasha and I love stories. I love to read them, to watch them and most of all I love to write them. I find people endlessly fascinating and frustrating, which makes for the most interesting stories!

I also love politics and true crime so in addition to writing romance, I also write political satire. It has been my dream to make a living as a writer since I was a kid and got lost in Judy Blume, The Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley High (is my age showing?!?!). When I'm not writing I can be found engaging in one-sided conversations with Rachel Maddow, singing very loudly very badly and trying out new cuisines from around the world.

I love to laugh, I gave my husband a sappy pet name and I think answers to most of life's dilemmas can be found in an episode of Dawson's Creek.

My first series, Mustang Prairie, is small town romance because I feel they offer a variety of fun characters whose lives are interconnected. It is based loosely on my college town, which was the smallest town I've ever lived in...Go Panthers!

Currently I'm living in Germany so I can see Europe but by the time my next book comes out...who knows where I'll be!!!!

Guest Post by Cheyenne Strawinski- Review of Leaving Eva by Jennifer Sivec

The book Leaving Eva by Jennifer Sivec was a little confusing to follow. I read the unrevised version so there was a few grammatical errors, and the storyline jumps from character to character but that only took away from the story a tiny fraction.
Leaving Eva was a story about a little girl named Eva. Eva was abandoned as a young child and then later adopted at around age 5 by Thomas and Rose. They renamed her Brynn. Thomas got drunk often and he abused her physically, and verbally, saying she was ugly, and he hated her when he was drunk. He knew that Rose didn't love him, and that she only loved Brynn.

Brynn eventually graduated high school, and married her high school sweetheart. But when they started having problems, she is forced to face her past.

This was an amazing book. The book starts slow, but after you get into it, you won't want to put it down. It was very hard to go to school while reading this book, because I just wanted to stay home and read!

I give this book four stars just because it starts out slow and I like books that are fast pace from the start.
