Awakened by Patricia Vanasse

I so hope there is going to be another book in this series. I loved the second book more than the first. I had a major book hangover from this book. I loved that questions were answered and the book was wrapped up nicely but it was left open for another book. I would love to tell everyone about my favorite parts but I don't want to give out spoilers. I will just say this, if you love suspenseful books you have to read this series. I give this book five huge stars. It deserves everyone of them. 

Resilient by Patricia Vanasse

I was given this book for a honest review. I read the synopsis and it sounded like a really good book but when it came time to read it I procrastinated. I don't know why I did though, once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. It has only taken me 6-8 hours to read, it was that good. I'm just glad I have the next book in the series. I think I'd go crazy waiting for it. I have to find out what happened to Adam. I also need to know what happens to Livia and Daniel. Do they train enough? Do they survive? Patricia's writing starts out a little slow but it only takes a few chapters and you are on the edge of your seat wanting more. I have to give this book five stars. I'm off to read the next one, hoping that I don't have to wait for another one to get all the answers to my questions.

This book was a quick read. I was hoping there would be more to the story. The book was mostly one big sex scene, basically a plot of a bad 80's porn film. Don't get me wrong it was a hot scene but I really want more build up and more after. Plus I'm not to big on stories that revolve around cheating and that's really all this book was, a husband cheating on his wife. I'm sorry but I have to give this book only two stars. It was an ok book but I probably won't be reading anymore in this series.

She leaned back against the bar with her tits jutting out and her arms crossed underneath. “What’s your problem with me? Did I do something to you, Frisco?”

Caught off guard by her question, my body jerked backward. “N-no,” I stuttered.

She tapped her foot. “You ditched me, marched off when you heard my age, and tonight, you seem less than happy that I’m here. What the fuck gives?”

I cleared my throat, trying to find my voice and a reasonable explanation. “I don’t have anything against you.” I was in so much trouble.

“Let’s cut the shit, Frisco. I’m a big girl. What’s the problem? Would you rather I leave?” Her body oozed attitude.

I cringed. I never wanted to hurt anyone, but I knew that I had hurt her feelings. “No. Don’t go. I’m sorry. It’s just that Sunshine…” My chest tightened. “She’s trying to fix us up.”

Georgia filled her cheeks with air before slowly exhaling. “Is that so bad?” She narrowed her eyes. “If I’m not your type, it’s cool. But otherwise, what’s the issue? I thought we had a nice time up until you left the party. I’m a big girl. Just be honest with me. I’m not into playing games.”

I wanted to play games. Naked games that ended with us against a wall, tangled together like we’d played the sexiest game of Twister.

My Review

Another success for author Chelle Bliss. She pulls you into the lives of her characters and you cannot help but to become emotionally attached to them all. I was looking forward to this book and she did not let me down. I did, however, let myself down. I had set my expectations to believe that each of ALFA PI series would have a mystery to solve. Therefore, I kept waiting for a who done it to happen which is not necessarily the case. As a Frisco fan since Throttle Me, I can say I love him more now than I did then. He cocky, arrogant and sexy as hell but deep down he has a vulnerability that he only shows to Georgia. Speaking of Georgia, I could develop a serious woman crush on her. She is a sexy smart mouth with a air of innocence. She is his perfect Felicia. I loved following Frisco's journey of letting down his walls while he and Georgia's love story unfolds. For the City lovers out there (like I am), he and Suzy have a part in there too. I look forward to the next ALFA PI book and to maybe hearing a little more Frisco and Georgia.

I don't think I've read a novella before. This was my first. I hope Jody has plans to make this into a longer book. I like that it only took me a couple of hours to read but it left me with a lot of questions. The story line moved really fast and spread a month or so amount of time into a whole book. I love the way Jody writes. She gives you tons of detail but doesn't beat the details to death. I'm going to give this book 5 stars but I really hope there is another book in the works for these characters.

Review:

Prior to reading PTL, I had never read anything by Brooke. I can promise you this I will be adding her others to my TBR list. I would say that it tops the list as one the best books I have read recently. As for PTL, most of the promos I saw stated it was a teacher/student romance. As a fan of the Ivy Lessons Series, I figured I would enjoy this one too. This book is SO much more. PTL is emotional, sometimes funny and definitely has is sexy moments. It follows Aspen and Morgan as they fall in love, help each other heal from the pain of their pasts and bring down the walls they have built to protect their hearts. Bare with me as I am trying to write this without spoiling anything. I was brought to tears at one point but I wouldn't say you on an emotional rollercoaster. I found it refreshing that PTL not only had Aspen dealing with emotional barricades but Morgan had them as well. A lot of time the female is the only one portrayed as the sufferer. Thank you Brooke for showing that men can suffer too, you are amazing and I cannot wait to get into your other books.

I read both Black Horse and Broken Road right after each other. I loved both of these books. Black Horse was intense but Broken Road was even more so. A lot of questions that came up were answered in Broken Road. Although I am hoping there will be a third book. The story was wrapped up nicely but it did leave some parts open for another book. These were my first two books I've read by Addison, I really don't know what took me so long. She is now on my list, anything she writes I will buy. I love her writing style; she gives a lot of information but doesn't overwhelm you with details. I am giving Broken Road 5 stars and will make a separate post for Black Horse.
